10 When a deed must be used

  1. 10.1

        Conveyance or interest in land: a conveyance of land, or of any interest in land, is void for the purpose of conveying or creating a legal estate unless made by deed1.

  2. 10.2

        Registration of various transactions and interests with the Land Registry: particular instruments to be registered under the Land Registration Act 2002 are required to be made as a deed, and to be made on specified forms, including transfer of whole or part of registered title(s)2.

  3. 10.3

        Bills of sale: bills of sale made or given by way of security
