39 Introduction

Licensable activities and qualifying club activities1 can only be carried on lawfully under and in accordance with one or more of the following: a premises licence2, a club premises certificate3, a temporary event notice4 or a community and ancillary sellers notice5. These are termed ‘authorisations’ under the Licensing Act 20036 and a failure to carry on a licensable activity or a licensable activity that is also a qualifying club activity under, or in accordance with, an authorisation constitutes a criminal offence7.
