36 General

The club rules may make special provision for the employment of staff. If they do not, and if the nature of the club is not such as to imply a power to employ staff, the members of the committee of an unincorporated members’ club may become personally liable for any employees’ salaries and may not be entitled to be indemnified by individual members of the club1. Indeed, those who engage an employee may become personally liable for damage caused by his negligence2.
