Subject to the nature, constitution and objects of the club, the club’s management committee may have an implied power to engage paid employees but it is better to have this power explicitly embodied in the rules as otherwise the members who engage an employee may be held to be personally liable for his remuneration without recourse to indemnity from other members of the club. The rules should also deal with liability for damage by the negligence of a club servant in such a way that the liability does not fall solely on those who actually engage
