44 Application of Bills of Sale Acts

The definition of ‘personal chattels’1 for the purposes of the Bills of Sale Acts2 expressly excludes choses in action, and the Bills of Sale Acts accordingly have in general no application to choses in action3.

By Section 344 of the Insolvency Act 1986, however, a general assignment4 by a person engaged in any business of his existing or future book debts or any class of them is, if he is subsequently adjudicated bankrupt, void against his trustee as regards any book debts not paid before the presentation
