21 Necessity of notice to prevent payment to assignor

Notice is also necessary to prevent the debtor or trustee parting with the fund, and getting a good discharge from his original creditor or beneficiary. Payment to the creditor or beneficiary will be a good satisfaction of the debt or claim, notwithstanding it may have been assigned, if the debtor or trustee has no notice of such assignment1.
