14 Power to effect absolute legal assignments

The Supreme Court of Judicature Act 1873 Section 25(6), repealed and re-enacted with slight verbal alterations by the Law of Property Act 1925 Section 136(1), abrogated the common law rule so far as concerns absolute assignments of choses in action.

Section 136(1) provides that any absolute assignment by writing under the hand of the assignor1 (not purporting to be by way of charge only) of any debt or other legal thing in action, of which express notice in writing has been given to the debtor, trustee, or
