92 Public charitable collections

A public charitable collection is an appeal made either in a public place (eg a street collection) or by means of a door-to-door collection. An attempt to introduce comprehensive provisions to regulate public charitable collections was made by Part III of the Charities Act 1992 but these were never brought into force1. Part 3 of the Charities Act 2006 sets out a regime by which public charitable collections might be regulated but these regulations too are not yet in force, though it is anticipated that they will be introduced in some form within
