82 Charity Commission’s supervisory powers

The role of the Charity Commission has been maintained in the Charities Act 2011 as an integral part of the supervision and regulation of charities.

An inquiry into the affairs of a charity or class of charities (excluding an exempt charity) can readily be set up and may be conducted either by a member of the Commission’s staff (often one of its investigation team) or by an outside appointee1.
