6: OFFICIAL CUSTODIAN FOR CHARITIES75 Status and functionsThe official custodian for charities has the principal function of acting as trustee for charities in the specific circumstances provided for by the Charities Act 20111. The official custodian is a corporation sole having perpetual succession and using an official seal which is officially and judicially noticed2. The official custodian must perform his duties in accordance with directions given to him by the Charity Commission3 and his expenses (other than those recovered by him or reimbursed to him as trustee for a charity) are defrayed
