1: INTRODUCTION TO CHARITY TRUSTEES

45 General

‘Charity trustees’ means the persons having the general control and management of the administration of a charity1. Although in the last resort the court will not allow a trust to fail for want of a trustee, and the Charity Commission from time to time appoints trustees of charities, it is clearly desirable that the governing document for a new charity should contain adequate provisions regarding trusteeship2, and that a founder should satisfy himself in advance that there are people able and willing to undertake the administration of the charity.
