34 Charity names

The Charities Act 2011 prevents the use by a charity of a name which is for various reasons misleading or offensive1. The Charity Commission may direct a charity to change its name to one approved by them if2:

  1. 34.1

        the charity is a registered charity and the name is the same as, or similar to, the name of some other charity (whether registered or not)3;

  2. 34.2

        the name of the charity is likely to mislead the public as to its purposes or activities;

  3. 34.3

        the name of the charity includes
