12 Controls over names of charities

The Charity Commissioners may require a charity’s name to be changed to such other name as may be determined by the trustees with the approval of the commissioners in any of the following circumstances1:

  1. 12.1

        if the charity is a registered charity and at the time when its name was registered the name was the same as, or in the opinion of the Commission too similar to, the name of any other charity whether registered or not;

  2. 12.2

        if the name is in the opinion of the Commission likely to mislead the public
