6.6 The operating centre

The operating centre must be suitable for its purpose1. The traffic commissioner is obliged to consider whether the operating centre is technically suitable2, and also whether there are environmental grounds for refusing use of that centre3. When an application4 is made it must be advertised in the locality5, and local residents6 and the local authority, planning authority, relevant trade associations and trade unions and police force are entitled to object on environmental grounds7.
