6.3 Requirements for a standard licence

An applicant for a standard licence must meet the following requirements set out in the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 19951.

  1. 6.3.1

        He must have an effective and stable establishment in Great Britain2.

  2. 6.3.2

        He must be of good repute3. This is a technical expression. The normal way of establishing good repute is to establish that the applicant has not been convicted of any of a number of offences specified in the 1995 Act4. The traffic commissioner may, however, also take account of other evidence relating to the applicant5.
