6.2 Types of licence

Operators’ licences are either standard or restricted1. A standard licence authorises the use of vehicles for the carriage of goods either for hire or reward, or for, or in connection with, the holder’s business2. A restricted licence authorises the use of vehicles only for, or in connection with, the holder’s business3. A standard licence may be granted for the carriage of goods on both national and international operations, or for national operations only4. In various respects, the requirements to be met by an applicant for a restricted licence
