23 Cabotage

Operators who are holders of a standard international operator’s licence may also carry out cabotage operations1. Cabotage is originally a term of shipping law. It signifies carrying out carriage within a foreign state2. There are limitations on the period of time for which a vehicle may be used for cabotage. Following the conclusion of an international haulage operation, the vehicle may be used for no more than three cabotage operations in the state where the international haulage operation was concluded.
