220 The benefit of contracts including hire purchase and leasing agreements

The seller may not only have the benefit of book debts but also the benefit of existing contracts, for instance relating to the supply of raw materials or services. It will therefore be necessary to consider how these existing contracts are to be dealt with. It may be possible for the seller to assign the benefit of these contracts to the buyer in the same way as book debts1. At the same time, the seller may have taken on certain contractual obligations, for example, under a hire-purchase or equipment-leasing
