167.2 Overview of the Act

The Equality Act 2010 inter alia makes it unlawful for a person to discriminate against, harass or victimise a person in the following circumstances:

  1. 167.2.1

        when providing a service or when exercising a public function1,

  2. 167.2.2

        when disposing of2 or managing premises3, or

  3. 167.2.3

        at work or in employment services4.

In addition it is unlawful for an education body to discriminate against, harass or victimise a school pupil, student or applicant for a place5, or for associations6 to discriminate against, harass or victimise members, associates or guests7. The Act also prohibits other forms of conduct, including:
