162 The choice

Before any new business can decide which staff to recruit, it must consider the type of worker it wishes to employ. This will depend on a variety of factors, including how constant the work is going to be, how long it will last and the number of hours it will involve each week.

The main options are to use:

  1. 162.1

        permanent employees, either full-time or part-time, employed under open-ended employment contracts1;

  2. 162.2

        fixed-term contract employees employed for a predetermined time or until a specific task has been completed2;
