8 Types of burial places

There are four different kinds of burial places commonly found in England and Wales. These are:

  1. 8.1

        churchyards and extensions of churchyards1;

  2. 8.2

        burial places provided by local authorities2;

  3. 8.3

        commercial cemeteries provided under local Acts3; and

  4. 8.4

        private burial places provided and governed mainly by trust deed, for example the burial grounds of religious bodies other than the Church of England4.
