40 Provision and dedication of crematoria; fees

A crematorium may be provided and maintained by a burial authority1. No crematorium may be constructed in the consecrated part of a local authority burial ground2, and for this reason, and because crematoria are not used solely by members of the Church of England, it is not usual for crematoria to be consecrated3. However, they may be, and frequently are, dedicated4 in a joint ceremony in which both Church of England clerics and ministers of other religions take part.
