3.3 Medical research

The provisions in the Human Tissue Act 2004 that relate to organ transplantation also apply to the storage and use of the body of a deceased person, together with the removal from the body of any relevant material, for the purpose of medical research and other specified purposes (except for anatomical examination) in both England and Wales1. However, there is no deemed consent as there is for organ transplantation.
