27 Roman Catholic consecration or blessing

Although it has been stated that it is not the practice of a Roman Catholic bishop to consecrate land for burials unless the legal title is secured to the Roman Catholic authorities and is church property1, this has evidently sometimes occurred2. Where the land has not been consecrated the priest blesses each grave as it comes to be used3.
