2 Directions as to disposal of dead body

Anyone wanting to leave directions as to the disposal of their body would be wise to make their wishes known orally and in writing in their lifetime, rather than in a will which may not be found and, even if found, might not be read until after the funeral1. Directions as to disposal are not legally binding on those responsible2. However, they are usually honoured when it is practicable to do so, and a bequest or legacy to the appropriate person, conditional upon the testator’s wishes being carried out if legally possible,
