11 Maintenance of churchyards

Where a churchyard outside the area subject to the Welsh Church Act 1914 has been closed by an Order in Council, the parochial church council is responsible for its maintenance and must keep it in decent order and its walls and fences in good repair1.

However, a parochial church council which is liable to maintain a closed churchyard may2:

  1. 11.1

        if the churchyard is in a parish or community with a separate parish or community council, serve a written request on that council to take over the maintenance of the churchyard;
