87 Appointment of auditors

Every building society must appoint a person suitably qualified1 as an auditor or auditors at its annual general meeting, to hold office until the next annual general meeting2. The directors, or a general meeting of the society, may fill a casual vacancy in the office of auditor; but while any such vacancy continues, the surviving or continuing auditor or auditors (if any) may act3. If no auditors are appointed or re-appointed at any annual general meeting of the building society, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) may appoint a person to fill
