77 Election and co-option of directors

Directors of a building society must be elected to office either at the annual general meeting of the society, or by postal ballot of the members held in the part of the financial year which precedes the date on which the annual general meeting is held, depending on what the rules of the society provide1. The rules of a building society may provide for persons to be co-opted as additional directors, or to fill a vacancy, but any person so co-opted must cease to hold office at the end of the ‘permitted
