156 Settlement of disputes: general

The Building Societies Act 1986 provides1 for the settlement of certain disputes between a building society and a member, or a representative of a member, of the society, or between a building society and one or more members of the society or a complainant to be determined in one of three possible ways, depending on the nature of the dispute, namely, by the court2, by the Financial Services Authority3 or by arbitration4.
