124 Types of certificate

Three main types of certificate are commonly found in modern construction contracts. Interim certificates are periodic estimates of the value of work done and (often) materials supplied, on the basis of which instalments of the contract price are paid to the contractor1. The final certificate may constitute an expression of the contract administrator’s satisfaction with the standard of the works, or a statement as to the amount of money finally due between the parties, or both2.
