70.10 Reach of the Bribery Act 2010

Generally, a person or organisation can commit an offence under the Bribery Act 2010 wherever the act or omission forming part of the bribery offence takes place, whether in the United Kingdom or elsewhere.

For active bribery, passive bribery offences or the offence of bribery of a foreign public official:

  1. (a)

        within the United Kingdom—a person commits one of these offences if any act or omission which forms part of one of these offences takes place within the United Kingdom1.

        outside the United Kingdom—a person will commit an offence although the act or
