22.8 Temporary stoppage

It may be in the interests of one or both parties to keep the contract alive where the stoppage event is likely to be temporary. The benefits of continuing the contract (even with the delay) may outweigh any delay. For example, in agreements for the supply of goods or services, the party supplied may seek to have the option to obtain supplies from elsewhere while the stoppage continues, or there may be no option for the purchaser of the goods or services but to wait for the force majeure event to cease, as sourcing the goods or
