2.2 Layout of recitals

While not compulsory, the following suggestions follow English drafting practice for recitals and can help to make the contract more readable:

  1. (a)

        Each recital should contain only one point or statement.

  2. (b)

        Each recital should have a separate number.

  3. (c)

        A separate numbering system should be used for recitals compared to the main part of the agreement, for example using A, B, C for the recitals and 1, 2, 3 for the main part of the agreement. This helps to avoid confusion when cross-references are made.
