12.1 Language of the agreement

Specifying the language of the agreement can have a number of advantages, particularly in international contracts. For example:

  1. (a)

        If the agreement has been drawn up in versions in different languages, it is desirable to state which is the authoritative version, in the event of a difference in meaning between different versions.

  2. (b)

        It may be desirable to provide that any amendments to the agreement should be in the same language as the original.
