11.2.3 Definition of ‘day’

The word ‘day’ may mean:

  1. (a)

        a calendar day, from midnight to midnight;

  2. (b)

        a period of 24 consecutive hours, depending on the context1;

  3. (c)

        a ‘working day’, which is normally understood as a (complete) calendar day that is not a holiday, and not just the working hours of a day;

  4. (d)

        a ‘conventional day’ that begins at a defined time and ends 24 hours later2; or

  5. (e)

        a ‘business day’, which is sometimes interpreted as meaning a day on which a bank is open for business.
