13 Mortgages of ships and aircraft

A mortgage of a ship or vessel or any share of it is not a bill of sale for the purpose of the Bills of Sale Acts, whether or not the ship is registrable under the Merchant Shipping Acts1. Any mortgage of an aircraft (including one extending to any store of spare parts for that aircraft) may be entered in the register of aircraft mortgages, so long as the aircraft is registered in the nationality register maintained by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority2.
