38 Transfer of data

In view of the restrictions imposed by some countries on trans-border data flow, it would be prudent for the issuer of traveller’s cheques to obtain at the time of purchase the purchaser’s authority to transmit personal data relating to any claim for a refund that he may wish to make to its head office or processing centre1. Personal data has to be collected in order to establish a claimant’s identity and eligibility for a refund.
