308 Application for a debt relief order

An application for a debt relief order must be made to the Official Receiver through an approved intermediary1. An ‘approved intermediary’ means an individual for the time being approved by a competent authority2 to act as an intermediary between a person wishing to make an application for a debt relief order and the Official Receiver3. The following are authorised to act as competent authorities4:

        the National Association of Citizens’ Advice Bureaux;

  2. 308.2

        StepChange Debt Charity;

  3. 308.3

        Baines & Ernst Ltd;

  4. 308.4
