3: PRIVATE EXAMINATION OF BANKRUPT

186 Order for private examination

The Insolvency Act 1986 also provides for the private examination of the bankrupt and other persons who may be able to assist in the administration of the bankruptcy1. The court may, at any time after a bankruptcy order has been made, on the application of the Official Receiver or other the trustee of the bankrupt’s estate, summon to appear before it for examination2:

  1. 186.1

        the bankrupt or the bankrupt’s spouse or former spouse or civil partner or former civil partner;

  2. 186.2

        any person known or believed to have any property comprised
