183 Application for public examination

At one time the public examination of the bankrupt was a compulsory part of the bankruptcy procedure and took place in the early stages of the investigation by the Official Receiver. It is now at the discretion of the Official Receiver whether the procedure is used and it is provided that, where a bankruptcy order has been made, the Official Receiver may at any time before the discharge of the bankrupt apply to the court for the public examination of the bankrupt1.
