170 Income payments order or agreement

On the trustee’s application, the court may order either the bankrupt or his employer or other person making the payments to pay a specified amount to the trustee during the period of the order1. In so doing, the court may discharge or vary any existing attachment of earnings order in force against the bankrupt’s earnings2. In making the order, the court is prohibited from reducing the bankrupt’s income below that necessary for meeting the reasonable domestic needs of himself and his family3. The court may disregard unreasonably high mortgage repayments which are being made
