163 Property excluded from the estate

Certain items are excluded from the bankrupt’s estate in order to maintain his ability to earn an income and his reasonable standard of living. These are1:

  1. 163.1

        such tools, books, vehicles and other items of equipment as are necessary to the bankrupt for use personally by him in his employment, business or vocation (subject to the trustee’s right to replace any of these items at lower cost if the replacement is reasonable2);

  2. 163.2

        such clothing, bedding, furniture, household equipment and provisions as are necessary for satisfying the basic domestic
