Before the Companies Act 2006, and subject to the limited circumstances in which a vesting order could be obtained after disclaimer, if it was desired to restore a dissolved company to life for any reason, such as to make it a defendant to legal proceedings or because property of the company had been discovered, it was necessary to apply to the court.
