89.1 Specific performance—general

In exceptional cases a court will order specific performance of a contract of bailment1. For this to occur, the contract must not be for personal service2 or require supervision by the court3; the order must be capable of precise formulation4; and the applicant must show that damages would be an inadequate remedy5.
