79 Actions by bailors against bailees

Actions in tort against bailees are commonly brought in negligence or conversion1. Before the abolition of detinue and its assimilation under conversion2, this tort also gave redress for the wrongful detention or loss of goods by a bailee3. The abolition of detinue has not affected the damages which could previously be awarded for detinue4, nor has it affected the common law rules of damages in conversion5.
