41 Duties of the sub-bailee

The sub-bailee’s obligations vary according to the circumstances of the sub-bailment1. Where the sub-bailment is for reward2, the sub-bailee owes the duties of a bailee for reward3 not only to the middle bailee4 (whose own obligations to the original bailor continue in spite of the sub-bailment)5 but to the original bailor himself6. He must take reasonable care of the goods and refrain from converting them; he must answer for the dishonest or other wrongful acts of those employees to whom he entrusts the goods; and he must discharge the normal bailee’s burden of
