24 Injury or loss

According to older authority, the lender owes no liability for injury, damage or loss caused by a defect in the chattel unless he knew of the relevant defect at the time of the loan1. Almost certainly, the responsibilities of the lender for the safety and fitness of the object now lie in simple negligence rather than in some greater or lesser degree of care2.
