22 Enforcement of the task

Mandates bring into particular prominence the enforceability of an unrewarded bailee’s promises. Although a strict application of the doctrine of consideration would suggest otherwise1, it is submitted that the mandatary’s promise to perform the service is enforceable once he has entered into possession of the chattel2.
