186 European Regulation on the export of cultural goods

Under the European Regulation on the export of cultural goods1, an export licence must be presented when cultural goods are exported outside of the customs territory of the European Community2. Such an export licence is then valid throughout the European Community3.

The competent member state4 is authorised not to require export licences for the exportation of archaeological objects more than 100 years old which are the products of excavations and finds on land or under water or archaeological sites where they are of limited archaeological or scientific interest5.
