176 Conservation work or repairs

Some loan agreements prohibit the carrying out of conservation work or repairs while the work is on loan to the borrowing institution. There is a possibility that some repairs could infringe the moral rights of the artist to object to derogatory treatment. Indeed, depending on the extent of the alterations which might be significant, the artist could claim that the work is falsely attributed to him as the artist1.
